Contact Adam

Adam Rodgers was called to the Nova Scotia Bar in 2005. Adam completed his articles with a major Atlantic Canadian law firm in Halifax, before returning to Guysborough to practice in his home area. Adam practices Commercial and Personal Injury Litigation, Municipal Law, Criminal Defense, Divorce & Family Law, as well as Real Estate and Corporate Commercial.

Adam is active in sports, having played competitive fastpitch softball on a local and national level. He volunteers as President of the Strait Pirates Jr. B Hockey team, and is Past-President of the Strait Area Chamber of Commerce. Adam is a past executive member of the Board of Directors of the Mulgrave Road Theatre in Guysborough.

Adam is the President of the Strait Area Barristers’ Society, and a member of the Atlantic Provinces Trial Lawyers Association (APTLA) and the American Association for Justice.

Contact Devin

Devin Maxwell is a native of Truro, NS and was raised in Montreal, QC. He returned to Nova Scotia to attend Dalhousie University and completed his Bachelor of Arts degree (history and political science) in 1998 and Bachelor of Laws degree in 2001. Prior to joining Rodgers Law Group, Devin completed his articles with a major Nova Scotia law firm and was an associate with that firm for six years.

Called to the Nova Scotia bar in June of 2002, Devin practices in all areas of litigation, including personal injury, insurance claims, judicial and administrative review, commercial disputes, Aboriginal rights, human rights, and institutional abuse claims. He has appeared before all courts in Nova Scotia, as well as the Federal Court of Canada.

In the Halifax community, Devin is heavily involved with Rugby Nova Scotia and the Halifax Tars Rugby Football Club. A long time member of the Tars executive committee, he acted as the club’s president in 2014. Devin has also been an executive board member of the Resolutes Amateur Athletic Club since 2010.

Contact Jade

Jade Pictou was born and raised in Nova Scotia. She graduated from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University in 2015 with a Juris Doctor and also has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. She was called to the Nova Scotia Bar in 2016.

Prior to joining Rodgers Law Group. Jade was a lawyer with another law firm in Halifax. Prior to being called to the Bar she articled with Halifax Water, McInnes Cooper, Sipekne’katik and the Treaty and Aboriginal Rights Research Centre. Jade also completed a term with Dalhousie Legal Aid Service as a student.

Jade practices Aboriginal, Criminal Defence, Civil Litigation, Human Rights and Employment law to name a few. She will also be starting a practice in Real Estate. In addition, Jade is also a per diem Crown Attorney with the Nova Scotia Public Prosecution Service.

Jade is a Committee Member of the Nova Scotia Barrister’s Society Race and Equity Committee. She is also a Director of a not-for-profit which has seeks to encourage continuing legal education and cultural competency training within the legal field.

Originally from Truro, Nova Scotia, Alexander obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Criminology from Saint Mary’s University in 2011. Alexander then obtained his law degree from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University in 2015, and was called to the Nova Scotia Bar June 2016.

Prior to graduating law school, Alexander interned with the Public Prosecution Service and he worked for the Federal Department of Justice in the tax and civil litigation sector. Shortly after completing his articles he joined Rodgers Law Group. Alexander was appointed as a per diem Crown Attorney October 2016 and furthermore, he is a committee member for the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society Race & Equity Committee, and a member of the Dalhousie Pro Bono Committee.

Alexander has a general practice with a focus on criminal law, corporate law, business law, and medical cannabis law. Alexander has worked on many levels with Licensed Producers, Cannabis Dispensaries, and the criminal, employment, and regulatory violation aspects of cannabis law as well. Alexander is extremely proud to be a member of the Rodgers Law Group team, and he looks forward to building his practice and to continue helping the community.

Julian takes a different approach to the practice of law. He knows legal matters can be difficult for people, so he tries to make it as easy as possible. That means speaking plain English, explaining what to expect, making himself available, and going the extra mile to make the experience as easy and inexpensive as possible. Whether it is streamlining his practice to offer the lowest possible rates or going out of the office to meet you at a convenient location, the client is always his focus.

Julian's practice encompasses almost every area of law: small business, wills and estates, employment, personal injury, guardianship, power of attorney, and criminal law, Julian can help you find a solution to your legal matter -- and he will make sure it gets done for a reasonable fee.

Contact Meaghan

Meaghan grew up in Halifax and attended Saint Mary’s University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Development and Environmental Studies. Meaghan graduated from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University in 2016 obtaining her Juris Doctor and a certificate in environmental law. She was called to the Nova Scotia Bar in 2017.

During law school, Meaghan completed a term at Dalhousie Legal Aid Service where she gained significant experience in family law, criminal law, and poverty law matters. She was also a member of Pro Bono Students Canada where she volunteered at the Family Law Information Centre.

Before joining the team at Rodgers Law Group, Meaghan completed her articles at North Star Immigration Law, gaining unique experience in immigration law matters. Meaghan is currently a volunteer at the Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia and is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Advocates Society, and the Nova Scotia Criminal Lawyers’ Association.

Meaghan has a general practice with a focus on family and immigration law in Halifax.
